Chapter 9

Jesus is not who most people would expect. He takes great joy in his humanity. I and most people I know take being human for granted. He takes pride in his humanity and doesn't hesitate to be himself. What I love about hanging out with him is that he is unapologetic about whatever human emotion he is feeling. I've spent time with him when he was annoyed and very comfortable in expressing his annoyance. If you run into him and want to experience his profound ability to be human, ask him about his "kingdom." His response will be to go on and on about how people are obsessed with kingdoms and making him a king and creating prayers and hymns about his being a king and on and on. As he talks, he obviously loves having the ability to be annoyed. He also has a great sense of humor and loves giving me a hard time. He pokes at me when I'm vulnerable and enjoys my sputtering response complaining that I'm only human.

In this moment after he saved me from the incorporates attack, we sat together and I could feel his concern, the warm presence of love for me and the desire to help me. We didn't say much. Both of us were busy wondering about what the attack meant. Why the sudden influx of incorporates in Helena? Normally the incorporates keep a low profile not wanting to be noticed while they go about their nefarious business.. Why are they now getting more aggressive in calling me out? Jesus' human intelligence was humming busy analyzing the situation. The divine part of him knew the answers to the questions but understood the human part of him wanting to find the answer for himself.

He stood up and stretched. "Enough of that," he said. He put one hand on his heart and the other on mine. The divine perspective wrapped around us and we saw the Helena Valley as a 3-dimensional grid. Our perspective allowed us to see the individual shape of the Valley's landscape from above. Comparably, the experience could be described to soldiers looking over a model of a battlefield, but in Jesus' divine vision what we looked at wasn't a battlefield. The Helena Valley was God's beautiful creation, the well-loved home to many forms of life. Like the rest of creation, Jesus cares and worries about this place always. His vision allowed me to see into specific places and to watch the ongoing movement of all the people who lived here. I noticed that the incorporates were building strongholds throughout the Valley. Businesses were being directed by them. Some households were controlled by their presence and forced to satisfy the incorporates' needs. Individuals were indentured to them and were unable to speak, to imagine, or to feel outside the parameters set by the incorporates. This increasing influence only impacted sections of the Valley. Most places and people not  under the incorporate control still felt the pressure and the presence of this growing threat.

Jesus pointed to a Figure that was moving on the grid. Larger than most of the aspects in the Valley, this Figure moved from place to place, directing, haranguing the incorporates, commanding them to gain more territory. The Figure changed appearance and gender for each situation. This Figure that wasn't just one but many. Jesus lifted the Figure off the grid and, Jesus, being who he is, looked lovingly upon the Figure. The Figure ignored Jesus who tightened his grip. Jesus handed the figure to me and I felt the figure squirming in my hands, changing, taking on many shapes. I struggled to hold the Figure and the Figure flipped out of my hand. Jesus reached out, caught the Figure, and flipped it in the air. The Figure exploded into many  little figures that all fell in different places on the grid.

Jesus said to me, " I need your help. After all, I'm only as good as the people who love and help me." I scoffed at that. I knew he could handle any problem he encountered and didn't need my help. Knowing what I was thinking, he said to me, "........but I want your help. Building the Earth is more fun when you are my partner."

"What if I cannot do what you need me to do," I asked with some fear.

He reached into me grabbing the fears in my mind, body, and soul and pinching the fears out of existence. He said, "I've got your back." I felt great relief because I believed him and understood he would always be with me. "We've got plenty of work to do," he said.

As I said that, new insight rushed into me. The Figure wished to quash humanity. The Figure had decided to claim the future here of this Valley. I know that was in the long run an impossible task. The future here and everywhere is Jesus, divine and human, held together in unending love. The Figure never let that reality interfere with its plots and plans. The Figure operated on the belief that it could control human life in the short term. The Figure isn't human. It consumes humanity and tries to remake people into a distorted image and likeness of itself. Although the Figure knows the transient nature of its control, the fact that it will in the end fail. The Figure is not discouraged by knowing its influence is here today and gone tomorrow.  The Figure takes whatever control it can while making as havoc as possible.

The Figure in its many forms was annoyed that I resisted it control. When I had held the squirming figure in my hand, I felt its contempt for me. I knew it had decided that I was a weak link and could be put in my place. Both Jesus and I laughed. The Figure must know I was from Butte, MT, and wasn't going to be pushed around especially when someone or some place I loved was threatened. I understood that the damage the Figure caused throughout history was real and brought harm and tragedy to many people, to the Earth itself. Sometimes knowing the beginning and the end was Jesus allowed me only some satisfaction. I knew I must resist the Figure anyway I can to prevent its destructive harm.

Jesus patted my back and said "That's my buddy. The games afoot and you will be very busy tracking down the Figure's latest plans."

I felt his love pulling me to him. In a blink, I found myself standing with him on the edge of creation. Beyond the edge nothing existed. Beyond the edge was outside of creation. I know Jesus often hangs out right on the edge making his last offer of love to the souls and entities just before they go over the edge. He offers them love and their own place in creation, the gifts he always offered. These souls and entities had rejected that offer over and over. They had stood outside of Heaven and chosen their own will and reality rather than accept God's. Gradually they had found their own Hell where they could stand against the reality of God's creation. These arrogant souls thought they could hold be their own god. With each rejection of God's love, they moved closer to the edge of creation until they stepped out into nothing and were no more. They thought their own vision could sustain them, but without the structure of God's love, they gradually became nothing. I had been here before with Jesus making one last invitation to them before they take the last step into nothing. Part of him was always making the arrogant souls one last hope and renewed opportunity for existence. Rarely did anyone who had moved this close to the edge of creation turn back, but Jesus was optimistic. Whenever I had been there with him, I tried to support his work and bring some reason into the lost souls moving into non-existence. He always appreciated the help. Once I helped him pull a human soul back from the step into nothingness and I shared in the genuine joy of Jesus rejoicing and celebrating the continued life of this human. All of Heaven rejoiced with him. On this trip, no such luck. As many souls and entities moved pass, Jesus and I tried in vain to catch their attention, but their reality constructed decision by decision could not allow them to see or hear us. I felt Jesus' pain and loss as one by one they stepped out into nothing and were no more. I shared in his sense of loss. Jesus, sensing my anxiety turned to me at one point and said, "Thanks for the help. Now you need to go."

I thought he was about to take me home, but he said, "Before you go back to Helena, I need you to check into something for me." He gently pushed me and I fell up through the layers of existence to find myself standing at the Side Door to Heaven.
